 FAST FACTS 

  • Many seniors do not eat three meals per day. They may eat one meal plus snacks or 4 or more small meals per day. Adequate nutritional intake is very important.
  • Changes that occur with aging can cause a decreased metabolism, decreased activity level, and a decreased calorie intake.
  • Even if seniors are eating healthy foods, they may not get all the nutrients they need because of their decreased food intake.
  • Seniors may not have enough money to buy three meals per day.

  • Take nutrition classes.
  • Participate in education programs.
  • Go to a healthy congregate meal plan.
