  • What Would Happen If We Stopped Vaccinations?

    • The following diseases would return to infect the U.S. population:
      • Polio
      • Measles
      • Pertussis

    The effects of these diseases are:

    • Hemophilus influenza-B meningitis - deafness, seizures, mental retardation and death.
    • Pertussis - death.
    • Congenital Rubella - heart defects, cataracts, mental retardation and deafness.
    • Hepatitis - life-long Hep B - death due to related liver disease.
    • Tetanus - kills 300,000 newborns and 30,000 birth mothers yearly who were not properly vaccinated.
    • Diphtheria - death rate is 5 percent to 10 percent, with higher death rates (up to 20 percent) in the very young.
    • Mumps - deafness in children, miscarriages among women who develop mumps during the first trimester of pregnancy.
