  • Riding unrestrained in an automobile is the single greatest cause of serious injuries and death of children.
  • 85 percent of children who are placed in car seats or booster seats are improperly restrained.
  • The back seat is the safest place for a child when riding in a car.
  • Almost all children killed by passenger airbags are either unrestrained or improperly restrained at the time of the crash.
  • Ohio law states that children under age 4 and under 40 pounds must ride in an approved child safety seat.
  • 85 to 90 percent of car seats inspected by Summit County Safe Kids Coalition are improperly installed.
